Abstract

Does the cinema give a realistic image of the journalistic profession? Much research has attempted to answer this question. In the words of Bezunartea Valencia et al. (2010: 164-165): «The portrait that the cinema makes of the journalistic profession shows, in short, a profession occupied in its great majority by experienced men, although not necessarily with university training, who work for written media on foot. street, either as a reporter or as a correspondent. […]». This work, on the other hand, focuses on how the seventh art has reflected the need for journalists to receive academic preparation to exercise their profession. To this end, the Spanish film Escuela de Periodismo (Jesús Pascual, 1956) has been analyzed.
