Abstract

Through the analysis of two Pixar short films, Purl and Salir, we seek to highlight the potential of cinema as a communicative resource for the construction of a more egalitarian and inclusive society. The article studies the current communication adopted by two Pixar productions as a response to the prevailing social demands that show a change of representation in the cinematographic narrative. In this way, we reflect on the gender perspective and the integration of the LGTBI+ collective in today's world through the social communication represented by cinema.

Pixar productions carry out a representation of masculinity and femininity that is linked to a social, historical, and cultural context that conditions its communication. Therefore, this reality is transferred to the big screen through characters that demonstrate the adaptation of the production company to the need to integrate minorities that have traditionally been underrepresented by the mass media.
