Abstract

Those of us within the legal realm are often immersed in a world of procedures and technical language. We often use intricate and baffling terminology, disconcerting those unaccustomed to our surroundings. Our intention is not to appear superior, but rather, we believe it aligns with the solemnity of the judiciary and its role as a governmental institution, among other well-intentioned reasons.

Nevertheless, we have the ability to pause and take a moment to consider those who seek our assistance. By doing so, we can humanize the judiciary, recognizing its dual role as a public service.

Judicial communication is a shared responsibility that transcends disciplines and organizational boundaries. Every member of the organization, often unwittingly, represents it through their communication.

Public service desks serve as the initial point of contact for those pursuing justice, and the quality of their interactions has a direct impact on these individuals. Here, clear communication becomes essential for a successful exchange of information. Given the diverse audience encountered within the judicial system, we should make a conscious and empathetic effort to adapt, removing unnecessary complexity and providing accessible information.

Clear communication enhances the overall experience within the justice system, fostering transparency, trust, and bolstering its reputation.
